<p>PURPOSE:To improve the volumetric efficiency of intake air when an engine runs at high speeds by providing bypass passages directly connecting volume chambers which connect respective independent intake air passages when the engine runs at high speeds to form pressure reversing parts, and centralized intake air passages. CONSTITUTION:Short bypass passages 33L, 33R connecting volume chambers 25L, 25R which open shutter valves 28 when an engine runs at high speeds (5500 r p m and over), to form pressure reversing parts, and centralized intake air passages 12L, 12R, are provided. Pipes 18 for forming the bypass passages 33L, 33R are provided at the position opposed to intake air discharge openings. Thus, when the shutter valves 28 are opened at the time of high speed operation, intake air passes through the bypass passages 33L, 33R from the centralized intake passages 12L, 12R, directly enters the volume chambers 25L, 25R, and is supplied to the downstream sides of respective independent intake air passages 21a - 21l, then flows into the intake air passed through surge tanks 10L, 10R. The volumetric efficiency of intake air at the time of high speed operation can thus be improved.</p> |
