The object of the invention is a method for the exploration of soil (10), according to which method the drilling is started as penetration testing and then continued, if necessary, in the same hole as percussive drilling. In accordance with the invention the drilling is carried out with the type of drill bit equipment (22) which comprises a drill bit (23) and a disposable protective cover (24) placed over it, which is designed to be suited for penetration testing. When the drill bit equipment meets, in penetration testing, a rock (16) or a layer of soil (14) so hard that it is undesirable or impossible to continue penetration testing, the penetration testing is discontinued. In changing over to percussive drilling, the protective cover breaks and is detached from the drill bit. Thereafter the drilling is continued using the same drill bit, by percussive drilling. |
