<p>NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by formula I (R1 is 1-4C alkyl; R<2> is H or hydroxy-protecting group; steric configuration at chiral center C marked with * taking only one configuration of S or R). EXAMPLE:(3R,5R)-6-Benzyloxy-3-methylhexane-1,5-diol. USE:A raw material for various kinds of antipodes of optical active rose oxide. A natural type cis form of the compound is useful as perfume. A short and simple synthetic process, high induction ratio of chiral center and suitable for mass production are presented. PREPARATION:An optically active valerolactone compound shown by formula II (Rx is hydroxy-protecting group and methyl, benzyl, phenyl or silyl) is subjected to a ring opening reduction to give a hexane compound shown by formula III. Then, this compound is subjected to ring formation and deprotected to give a compound shown by formula I.</p> |
