A skew shed forming installation for a loom incorporates lifting knives which carry sinkers provided for the control of the needles. The knives are carried by lifting components, which are in contact, at their ends, with eccentre drives. The components are flexibly connected to carriages positioned in the middle of the drive contact points. The carriages are guided in a straight line on columns running across the lifting components. ADVANTAGE - The invention permits a high working speed.
