PURPOSE:To obtain a manganese battery excellent in a heavy-load intermittent discharging characteristic and capable of holding a heavy-load continuous discharging characteristic by providing a positive electrode agent incorporating a positive electrode active material where plural kinds of chemosynthetic manganese dioxide powder including mainly gamma-type crystals, each having a limited specific surface area and a limited total porous volume, are mixed in predetermined ratios of wt. CONSTITUTION:A manganese battery is provided with a positive electrode agent incorporating a positive electrode active material consisting of a mixture of 65-92wt% of chemosynthetic manganese dioxide powder including mainly gamma-type crystals, wherein a specific surface area is 25-70m<2>/g and a total porous volume is 0.06-0.12cm<3>/g, and 8-35wt% of chemosynthetic manganese dioxide powder including mainly gamma-type crystals, wherein a specific surface area is 71-120m<2>/g and a total porous volume is 0.13-0.20cm<3>/g. |
