The contraflow-turbine turbogenerator has only one shaft, with the turbine at the ends and the generator in the middle. Turbine rotors are keyed to the shaft; each has a shaft-mounted light alloy flow-smoothing inlet cone. Shaft (ball-)bearings are between each cone and its rotor, the outer race carried in four supports from the casing, whose bore converges conically downstream. The generator sits inside a tubular duct, double-walled where the shaft passes through it. The inner of these walls house further shaft (ball-) bearings with sealing discs either side.
