<p>PURPOSE:To accurately detect the end of winding of a magnetic tape to perform the control by controlling a running means based on the physical quantity corresponding to the extent of running of the magnetic tape calculated by a calculating means and the detection output of a detecting means. CONSTITUTION:A means which runs a magnetic tape 3, detecting means 5 and 6 which optically detect a transparent part of the magnetic tape 3 run by this running means, a calculating means 11 which calculates the physical quantity corresponding to the extent of running of the magnetic tape 3 run by the running means by prescribed operation, and a control means 14 which controls the running means based on the physical quantity calculated by the calculating means 11 and detection outputs of detecting means 5 and 6 are provided. Thus, running of the magnetic tape 3 is correctly controlled and the malfunction is suppressed to improve the reliability of the device even if transparent part detecting means 5 and 6 detect a part other than the leader part of the magnetic tape 3, for example, the case where a base film is exposed because of a flaw of a magnetic layer on the magnetic tape surface.</p> |
