PURPOSE:To eliminate the bad conditon of contrast caused by black brightness spot by separating a polarizing plate on an incident side from a liquid crystal panel, bonding a polarizing plate on an exit side to the liquid crystal panel and bonding a cooling device to both polarizing plates from the outside of the polarizing plates. CONSTITUTION:The polarizing plate 5 on the incident side is separated from the liquid crystal panel 2, the polarizing plate 6 on the exit side is bonded to the liquid crystal panel 2, and the cooling device 3 is bonded to the polarizing plates 5 and 6 from the outside of both plates. Then, heat generated from the plates 5 and 6 and the panel 2 is transmitted to a cooling medium 34 through the wall surface of a glass container 30 in the cooling device 3, and the medium 34 is convected by temperature rise and a high-temperature cooling medium in the upper part is vaporized. The vaporized cooling medium is condensed at an upper condensation part and heat generated in such a case is discharged to the outside by a radiating fin 33. Even when strain caused by the difference of thermal deformation generates in the glass container 30 of the cooling device 3, the plates 5 and 6 do not detect it, and the bad condition of the contrast by the black brightness spot is not caused, because the cooling device 3 exists on the outside of the polarizing plates 5 and 6. |
