PRODUCTION OF ALKYLAROMATIC HYDROCARBONS FROM NATURAL GAS VIA ETHENE AND ETHYNE

Process for the production of alkylaromatic hydrocarbons from natural gas containing methane, characterised in that it comprises the following three successive stages:   1) thermal cracking of the natural gas with formation of hydrogen and of C2<+> hydrocarbons, in particular ethylene and acetylene,   2) separation of the C2<+> hydrocarbons, in particular of ethylene and acetylene, obtained at the outcome of stage 1) by refrigerated absorption in a solvent,   3) conversion of the C2<+> hydrocarbons originating from stage 2) into alkylaromatics. The alkylaromatics obtained can be employed as a base for premium grade fuel.
