PURPOSE:To shorten the time for waiting and to prevent the fall of an electric signal level by forcibly stopping the movement of an enzyme electrode by as much as the prescribed period of time after the enzyme electrode is parted from a material to be measured and before this electrode is brought into contact with a preserving liquid. CONSTITUTION:The enzyme electrode 1 is brought into contact with a disturbing material separating film 3 spotted with a liquid to be inspected and the concn. of the material to be measured in the liquid to be inspected is measured. A motor 2c is thereafter operated to sufficiently part the electrode 1 from the separating film 3. The operation of the motor 2c is then stopped by as much as the prescribed period of time on condition that the electrode 1 arrives at a prescribed position. The surface of the electrode 1 comes into contact with the air during this time and, therefore, the reaction progresses rapidly and glucose is consumed in a short period of time as the oxygen is sufficiently replenished even if the unreacted material (e.g.: glucose) to be measured remains on the surface of the electrode 1. The motor 2c is thereafter operated again to bring the electrode 1 into contact with a preserving liquid housing tank 4. The measurement is then waited until the start of the next measurement is instructed while the activity of the physiologically active material is kept maintained. The above-mentioned processing is executed again when the start for the measurement is instructed. |
