PURPOSE:To efficiently obtain the subject compounds which are intermediate raw materials for various chemicals, agricultural chemicals, etc., in good yield by reacting aryl trifluoromethanesulfonates as a raw material with a cyano compound in the presence of a specific catalyst and reducing agent. CONSTITUTION:Readily available aryl trifluoromethanesulfonates are reacted with a cyano compound in the presence of a catalyst containing a metallic complex of group VIII of the periodic table having one or more chlorines as a ligand and/or a metallic salt of nickel and a reducing agent (zinc, tin, manganese, formic acid, etc.) in a polar solvent such as 1,4-dioxane to afford the objective compounds. The aryl trifluoromethanesulfonates which are the raw material are used at a molar ratio thereof the cyano compound within the range of 100:(100-1000), preferably 100:(100-300). The molar ratio of the raw material:catalyst is within the range of 100:(0.1-10), preferably 100:(5-10). |
