A hygienic mattress, particularly for counteracting bedsores and similar, comprising a body or core (2) including one or several layers and a water repellent surface layer (1), the water repellent surface layer consisting of a profiled layer of a cellular plastic (1) with a cell system which is generally closed to 100 % and which generally covers the entire upper surface of the mattress, the cellular plastic having a smooth surface, the one side of the layer facing away from the core in section having a profiled surface in the form of for instance so-called egg-carton-like hump structure (10), and the surface facing the core having a planar surface (11), by which means the mattress forms air cushions between the vertically seen lowest points of the mattress and the body surface resting on the highest points when in contact with the body surface and a process for manufacturing the hygienic mattress. |
