PURPOSE:To enable expression of a pearly tone with a feeling of quality, by specifying the pearlescent pigment contents of component layers and specifying the glossiness of the outer surface, in a container of a three-layer construction having an opaque inner layer, an intermediate layer containing a pearlescent pigment and an outer layer. CONSTITUTION:A container has a three-layer construction having an inner layer, an intermediate layer and an outer layer. The inner layer is formed of an opaque resin for intercepting transmitted light and for sufficient display of pearly tone effects. The intermediate layer should contain a pearlescent pigment in an amount of 0.5-10wt.% based on the layer, for producing a pearly tone effect. The outer layer should have a 60-degree specular reflectivity, as measured by the method according to JIS K 7105, of at least 60%, for preventing irregular reflection on the surface of the container which is blow molded. For better display of the pearly luster of the intermediate layer, the outer layer may contain a pearlescent pigment in an amount of up to 0.8wt.% based on the outer layer. The sum total of the pearlescent pigment contents of the intermediate and outer layers should be at least 1.0wt.%, for obtaining a pearly tone effect. The three layers can be produced by an extrusion blow molding method using a blow mold. |
