PURPOSE:To ensure the forward visual field of a person sitting on a rear seat, dispense with the detection of the presence of the person sitting on a corresponding seat by various sensors, and prevent the erroneous operation of a head rest by detecting the forward falling and standing of a seat back, and conducting the bending and stretching of the head rest interlockingly with the forward falling and standing. CONSTITUTION:The reclining angle of a seat back 16 difficult to sit as shown by the two-dot chain line is preliminarily prescribed as the forward falling position of the seat back. A seat back detecting means 28 for detecting the forward falling and standing of the seat back 16 is provided, and a head rest control device 10 is constituted in such a manner that, when the forward falling of the seat back is detected, a head rest 14 is automatically oscillated to a receiving position below the forward visual field line 26 of a person sitting on a rear seat. The forward falling of the seat back 16 is detected by the pressing of the operation piece 28 of the seat back detecting means by a difference in level 34 on an arm plate lower end, and the standing of the seat back is detected by the pressing release of the operation piece. |
