Also disclosed is a method for effecting testicular germ cell maturation. These methods involve administering to a subject in need of such treatment a therapeutically effective amount of Mullerian inhibiting substance (MIS) or an analogue thereof having MIS acivity. MIS may be administered to a subject shortly after treatment to effect testes descent and/or prior to testes descent.
