PURPOSE:To prevent a film from meandering and sagging by a method wherein the leading side part of a side plate is bent upward to make it cross with a taper part of a forming guide, and a film is brought into contact with the bent part of the side plate at a forward part than a depressing tension adding point of the film. CONSTITUTION:A film 2 is drawn in the advancing direction of a conveyor 4. Batteries 5 are arranged on the conveyor 4 and continuously carried by the conveyor 4. While operating the conveyor 4 in the direction shown by arrow, a film 2 is placed on the batteries 5. When the batteries 5 reach a leading end 6a of a forming guide 6, both side parts of the film 2 are guided downward along taper parts 6c of the forming guides 6. Accompanying with the operation of the conveyor 4, the film 2 is further sent forward and comes into contact with a bent part 7c of a side plate 7. By this motion, the edges of the film 2 are extended sideways, and thus wrinkles are prevented from generating. For this reason, a meandering correcting mechanism and an edge pulling mechanism and holding brushes for the film can be eliminated. In addition, the width of the raw film can be narrowed to reduce the scrap loss.
