The invention provides a method and a device for a posteriori detection of whether or not a body has passed through a determined temperature. It uses shape memory alloys either alone, or as a frame for malleable objects. A recognisable shape is imposed under stress, at low temperature, on the alloy. When it passes through the martensite-austenite transition zone, it returns to its memorised shape. The system can be used in various industries, in particular in the field of freezing or sterilisation. <IMAGE>
