Projection and image recording apparatus for determining the three-dimensional form of an object, comprising means (12) for projecting onto the object (14) a rectilinear fringe pattern characterized by a sinusoidal spatial variation of light intensity and a video camera (10) for the formation of an image of the object on a system of photodetectors, the projection means (12) being associated with sets of mirrors (20, 22, 24, 26) sharing the light beam emitted (16) and projecting the fractions of said light beam onto the object in different converging directions. Sequential multiplexing means for the light flows captured by the camera are also provided.
