<p>The converter for molten metal production consists of a metal shell (11)) with a refractory coating (12) resting on two fixed, spaced-apart supports (21, 21') via two diametrically opposite trunnions (2, 2') which are centred on a single horizontal axis (20) and separately fixed to the side wall (13) of the converter body (1). Each trunnion (2) is fastened to a support flange (31) which is perpendicular to the trunnion axis and separated from the side wall (13) of the converter body (1) by a gap in which a liquid coolant can flow. Said flange (31) is connected to the side wall (13) of the converter body (1) by two linking portions; an outer portion (32) fixed to said side wall (13) by a widened outer edge (34), and an inner portion consisting of a plurality of spaced plates (33) which are parallel to the axis of the trunnion (2) and evenly disposed out therearound. The converter can be used particularly for producing steel.</p> |
