According to the method, the preferably skimmed colostrum is contacted with a cation exchanger such as a sulphonic-function resin, the portion separated from the exchanger by elution is subjected to hydroxyapatite adsorption, and the fraction retained on the hydroxyapatite is recovered by elution, by washing with a phosphate pad at a maximum concentration of 500 mM, preferably about 100 mM. The retained, active fraction contains more than half of the growth factors of the initial colostrum, but almost no proteases, and can be used as an additive for cell culture media, particularly as a substitute for foetal calf serum.
|
