The neck immobilising support consists of a padded collar which fits around the patient's neck. The front of the collar (1) has a recess (2) with a flexible frame (3) formed by spring wire. The frame contains spacers (15), at intervals formed from semicircular pieces of spring wire. The recess extends around the collar over an arc of at least 180 deg. The collar is fastened around the patient's neck by hook pile fasteners. In an alternative design, the flexible frame may be made from a flat strip of plastics.
