PURPOSE:To pull sown the drive voltage usiong a simple structure by furnishing a magnet for impressing a magnetic field between a cathode and an anode where voltage is impressed. CONSTITUTION:An anode 2 and fluorescent substance 4 are provided on a front plate 1, and a cathode 8 is formed on a rear plate 5, and a rare gas mixed gas is encapsulated in a discharge space bounded by a barrier wall 9. When a voltage is impressed between the anode 2 and cathode 8, electrons are emitted from the cathode 8. Because magnetic field from a magnet 10 is applied in the direction of electric field, the electrons are accelerated in the direction of anode 2 while enwrapping on the line of magnetic force, which should suppress possible loss due to diffusion of electrons in the crosswise direction. This brings about electric dissociation to allow starting of the electric discharge at a low voltage, and the fluorescent substance 4 makes light emission with ultraviolet rays radiated from this discharging. Thereby the drive voltage can be pulled down with a simple structure. |
