PURPOSE: To decrease production stages for forming a light shielding material by using a material obtd. by reducing indium tin oxide (ITO) as the light shielding material. CONSTITUTION: A nematic liquid crystal material is packed between a TFT array substrate 10 and counter substrate 12 arranged to face each other. Both of the TFT array substrate 10 and the counter substrate 12 are formed of transparent glass. A canon electrode 40 consisting of the ITO and the light shielding material consisting of the material obtd. by reducing the ITO, i.e., a black matrix 42 are formed on the counter substrate 12. The common electrode 40 and the light shielding material 42 exist within the same plane. As a result, there are no differences in levels between both and the stage for producing the transparent electrode 40 and the light shielding member 43 is made smaller. |
