A powder coating composition comprises as resinous components, a base resin having two or more oxirane groups in its molecule and an epoxy resin hardener; the composition being characterized by containing from 0.5 to 10% by weight based on the weight of the base resin, of a vinyl resin containing 1 to 10% by weight of units derived from one or more aliphatic dicarboxylic acids selected from thiomalic acid, maleic acid, fumaric acid and itaconic acid, the vinyl resin having a number average molecular weight of from 1000 to 8000 and a glass transition temperature of from -40 DEG C to 100 DEG C.
