The arrangement proposed for the linear induction motors with short stator and transverse flux, with discontinuous primary, offers a primary formed by irons separated from one another by air gaps equal to the thickness of the irons, whose cross section is a nucleus in the shape of a lying-down E, of trapezoidal form, with the ends cut back and of a small thickness in the bridges which join the lateral teeth to the central tooth. The separations between irons fulfil the functions of the slots of conventional motors and the coils of the winding are located therein. With this new arrangement there is obtained a reduction in the weight of the primary and an increase in the power factor when compared with the linear motors in existence to date. <IMAGE>
