The present invention provides a drum made of thermoplastic material, having at least one carrying ring disposed on the drum wall at a distance inwardly from the adjacent end face of the drum, the ring having a horizontal contact surface and a vertical contact surface adapted to receive gripping arms of a drum gripping device, the ring being connected with the drum by a connecting web which is fastened to the horizontal contact surface and extends into the wall of the drum, wherein the wall section extending above a groove in the ring is sloped conically towards the end face of the drum, the conical wall section retreating in relation to the remainder of the wall of the drums to form a groove base which is flangeshaped and widened towards the centre line of the drum. |
