PURPOSE:To provide a data recording medium excellent in recording sensitivity, increased in reproduction signal amplitude and having improved C/N ratio characteristic by constituting the data recording medium of a recording layer and a light absorbing layer and forming the recording layer from four elements of tellurium, germanium, gallium and bismuth and specifying the composition of the recording layer. CONSTITUTION:A data recording medium is constituted so that the recording layer formed on a substrate is irradiated with light to generate heat and the optical characteristics of the recording layer is changed by said heat to perform the recording and reproduction of data. The data recording medium consists of at least the recording layer and the light absorbing layer laminated to the recording layer and the recording layer mainly consists of four elements of tellurium (Te), germanium (Ge), gallium (Ga) and bismuth (Bi) and the composition thereof is represented by general formula (Tex Ge100-x)100-y(Gaz Bi100-z)y [wherein x, y and z are respectively 40<=x<=75, 2<=y<=30 and 5<=z<=50, x is the atomic % of Te among (Te and Ge), y is the atomic % of (Ge+Bi) in the recording layer and z is the atomic % of Ga among (Ga + Bi)]. |
