The device for contracting (tightening) the folds (14) is an improvement made to patent application 90-05747; it is composed of sectors (15) which are movable about an axis (16) which makes it possible to take the film (11), the folds (17) of which are preformed, between the teeth (10) of a toothed wheel (7); the movable sectors (15) then move closer together in order to become substantially contiguous at the moment of transfer of the film (11) on a wheel (8) for gripping together the folds, on which the folds may be laid flat and fastened together. <IMAGE>
