SUPPORT FOR EXHAUST GAS PURIFICATION DEVICE

PURPOSE:To provide a support high in high temp. strength for use in an exhaust gas purification device by forming a flat plate of a honeycomb structure thicker in its central part than a corrugated plate thereof. CONSTITUTION:A support for exhaust gas purification device consists of a catalyst-deposited honeycomb structure 1 wherein a strip-like metal corrugated plate 3 having continuous undulating curves and a flat strip-like metal plate 4 are alternately wound around themselves into the form of a roll and a case 2 for housing therein the honeycomb structure 1. The flat plate 4 is formed thicker in at least its central part B than the corrugated plate 3. Therefore, its high temp. strength is sufficiently high to ensure the prevention of the cracking or the like. Exhaust gases are passed through the honeycomb structure 1 of the support to react with the catalyst deposited thereon for purification.
