<p>PURPOSE:To roll a billet into nominal weight by calculating the estimated rolling length of billet from the weight and set value of bloom, calculating the changing quantity of roll gap for reducing the difference between that estimated length and the actual length of rolled billet to zero and controlling the roll gap. CONSTITUTION:The device 1 for controlling weight of billet is constituted of a weight detector 2 with which the weight of bloom that ts weighed with a bloom weighing machine 24 is detected, a computing element 3 for estimated rolling length of billet with which the estimated rolling length of billet is calculated from the weight signal from this weight detector 2 and set value of the weight per unit length of hot billet that is set preliminarily, a billet length detector 4 with which the actual length of rolled billet is detected, a computing element 5 for deviation of billet length with which the difference between the estimated rolling length of billet and the actual length of billet is calculated, a computing element 6 for changing quantity of roll gap with which the changing quantity of roll gap for reducing this difference of length to zero is calculated and a roll gap controller 7 with which the roll gap of a billet mill 25 is controlled.</p> |
