An electrical rotary switch has a central assembly (38) that is indexed relative to a number of electrical switch contacts (46) located around the periphery of the housing. The central unit has two spring-biased followers that are forced radially against a camtrack that has specific positions. As the unit is indexed a profiled cam track surface displaces plungers (53,54) that operate against the carrier arms (48) of movable contacts. The arms are spring-biased (50) to the closed positions.
