The invention relates to a hybrid current limiter of the type described in the main patent and including a magnetic circuit on which the non-superconducting windings are wound. The magnetic circuit (30) comprises a first (31) and a second (32) limb the first and second ends of which are respectively common in order to form a closed circuit, the first (E1) and second (E2) windings each being coiled around a limb in such a way that their fluxes oppose, the circuit further comprising a central limb (35) situated between the first ends and the second ends, this central limb including a gap (36) and a moving magnetic part (37) making it possible to close off this gap, a return device acting on the moving part so as to oppose the closing-off of the gap. <IMAGE>
