PURPOSE:To prevent peripheral parts from being stained with ink and to replen ish ink or replace an ink cartridge in a simple and rapid manner by a method wherein an ink supply path is provided so as to connect to an ink chamber at one end thereof and open at the other end, and a porous member is charged in the ink supply path and the ink chamber. CONSTITUTION:An ink cartridge 30 is provided with a housing 31 made of a resin having a U-shaped cross section. In an ink chamber 32 and an ink supply path 33 in the housing 31, a porous member 34 impregnated with ink is charged. An impact when the ink cartridge 30 is loaded on an ink supply device 37 is absorbed by the porous member 34. The ink infiltrated in the porous member 34 is rapidly absorbed in a fiber bundle member 41 by a capillary phenomenon, therefore having no possibility of staining around the ink supply path 33. The ink chamber 32 vibrates as a head 43 moves on rails 38 vertically to paper surface during a printing action. However, since the porous member 34 serves as a shock absorbing member, there is no possibility that the ink may flow outside through the ink supply path 33. |
