PURPOSE:To detect the degree of deterioration of engine oil due to oxide product by providing an electrode such as a nitric-acid ion electrode and a reference electrode at the detecting part of the main body of a sensor, and providing both electrodes in close proximity. CONSTITUTION:The tip part which is also the mounting part of a detecting part is covered with a metal net 31 and protected against damages from the outside and electromagnetic noises. An amplifier 5 is connected to an operation and display device 7 from the rear part of a handle through lead wires. The detected result is displayed on the display device 7 in digital value. A sulfide ion electrode (Ag2S) which is an ion electrode 1A and a silver electrode (Ag) which is a reference electrode 1B in a sensor part are formed in a comb shape. The width of the comb-shaped electrode pair 1 is 2mm, and the interval between the electrodes 1A and 1B is formed at an equal pitch of 25mum. The sulfide ion electrode 1A (Ag2S) is manufactured by sulfurizing the reference electrode (Ag) in hydrogen sulfide (H2S). With this example of a detecting apparatus, the deterioration of engine oil in use due to oxide product is detected. |
