To coat fibres with a deposited material, a longitudinal fibre is moved continuously through a vacuum deposition chamber. The vapour material is directed to all sides of the continuously moving fibre. A gas stream is directed against the line of propagation of the partial flows of material vapour which move past the fibre. ADVANTAGE - The method gives a consistent coating on all sides of a continuous fibre.
