The drive mechanism for a roller or venetian blind has a pinion (28) meshing with a gear (26) on the end of the winding shaft, all contained in the blind housing fixed to the wall. The driving shaft (29) is inclined to the winding one and extends out of the housing via a bearing. The bearing is contained in the housing end wall, while the driving shaft is in three parts. The inner one (29) supports the driving pinion, the middle one (34) works in the bearing, and the outer one (20) has a coupling for a hand crank.
