<p>A two stroke internal combustion engine includes a cylinder (16) with a piston slidably sealed in the cylinder (16), a plurality of transfer ports (12, 13, 14, 15) open into the cylinder (16) and at least one exhaust port (11) leads from the cylinder (16), the transfer ports (12, 13, 14, 15) are connected to a common inlet manifold (20) and a common valve member (25) is provided to regulate the flow of air from the inlet manifold (20) to the transfer ports (12, 13, 14, 15) and to vary the flow of air through one transfer port (12, 13) relative to the flow of air through at least one other transfer port (14, 15). <IMAGE></p> |
