PURPOSE:To enhance reflectivity and to improve storage stability and recording/ regenerating characteristics by providing a recording layer compounded with a cyanine dye represented by a specific general formula on a substrate to form a data recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A solvent solution of a cyanine dye represented by formula I (wherein A is an atom group for completing a benzene ring or a naphthalene ring along with the carbon atom bonded to A, T is an alkylene group or an alkylene group wherein 1-3 S-atom or O-atom is interposed between carbon atoms, R is an alkyl group, L is a trivalent group having 1, 3, 5 or 7 methine groups bonded thereto by a covalent double bond, X<p-> is an anion and p is an integer of 1-3) is prepared. This solvent solution is applied to a substrate and dried to form a recording layer to prepare a data recording medium. |
