Optical fibre prodn. and appts. - has cooling chamber with high speed laminar air stream split, into two by mesh, to flow up and down along fibre
摘要
A process for prodn. of optical fibres. A preform in a hot circular oven is stretched into a fibre, cooled and then coated in laquer before winding onto a creel. Cooling gas is directed at high velocity towards the fibre axis and passes through a ring-shaped distributor in a cooling chamber. Gas flow is laminar and the gas stream is split up such that one stream flows upward the other downwards along the fibre. The cooling chamber has a fine mesh around the fibre acting as a gas distributor. The mesh has cylindrical and circular parts with an aperture. USE/ADVANTAGE - The process produces optical fibres, avoids mixing of the pure cooling gases with external air and prevents dust entry into the chamber.
