A method for obtaining a hydrogen-containing gas provides for mixing a carbon-hydrogen row material with steam, preliminary steam-catalytic conversion of the obtained steam-gas mixture, then primary catalytic conversion and secondary steam-oxygen catalytic conversion. The secondary conversion is effected while feeding an oxygen-containing gas mixed with a heat carrier at a volume ratio of 0.5:30.0 between the heat carrier and the oxygen, and heated up to a temperature not exceeding 900 DEG C. The desired product obtained as a result of the secondary conversion is recycled to the primary conversion to ensure the steam conversion process at the expense of the heat of the desired product.
