The process comprises copolymerisation based on emulsification by water, a surfactant and a water-soluble initiator, direct or with dispersing. The polymerisation of the comonomers mixt. after addition of the aqueous phase, is completed by heat treatment and accompanying decrease in the residual monomer content. The emulsion is cooled and employed in the prodn. of sintered glassware.
