PURPOSE:To shorten a stopping time for recovering a toner density when consecutive recording is carried out by providing each means of mode setting, pausing level setting, concentration discriminating, recording action pausing, control, and pause releasing. CONSTITUTION:Switching is carried out to a multi-consumption mode by an operating part 2. When toner consumption per one sheet is more than a quantity set in advance, the switching is automatically carried out to the multi-consumption mode, a pausing time is varied, and the toner consumption and a replenishing quantity are made coincident with each other.
