PURPOSE:To ensure that an image writing range can be decided by interpreting a sheet size based on the length of time for sheet detection using a sheet detection sensor provided on a sheet feed path and reading a range in which an image stored in a storage device is written according to information on a sheet feed direction and sheet size entered when printing is begun. CONSTITUTION:A direction in which a transfer sheet 17 is fed is confirmed and the transfer sheet 17 is fed from a sheet feed tray 31 using a sheet feed roller 32. A sheet size selection device 12 receives a transfer sheet detection signal from a sheet detection sensor 10, then counts time spent for entry of a transfer sheet detection signal to select the size of a transfer sheet 17 in a transport direction and sends information on the selected sheet size to a writing range decision device 13. The writing range decision device 13 reads data on the writing range of an image stored previously in RAM 4 based on information on the sheet size sent and a direction in which the transfer sheet 17 stored in RAM 4 is fed. Then the device 13 decides a writing range in accordance with the size of the transfer sheet 17. |
