PURPOSE:To improve the operability of a receiver by a carrier and to realize the receiver with high mechanical reliability by using a lighting means so as to light up a display means when the display means is in the reception information display state and the surrounding luminous quantity is a prescribed value or below. CONSTITUTION:A control section 14 stores a data signal inputted from a decoder 13 to a RAM 14C as reception information. The reception information is displayed on a display section 17 by a CPU 14A when a receiver user operates a display changeover switch 19. The CPU 14A display general information onto the display section 17 by an operating signal from the decoder 13 or a program stored in a ROM 14B independently of a received carrier when no reception information is displayed and lights up a lighting section 18 when the reception information is displayed on the display section 17 and a photosensing section 16 detects that the luminous quantity around the display section 17 is a prescribed value or below. When the surrounding luminous quantity is a prescribed value or below while the general information is displayed on the display section 17, the receiver carrier operates the switch 19 at an optional time to light up the lighting section 18.
