<p>PURPOSE:To reduce a data quantity of a 2-dimension scalar data by utilizing Laplacian as to a given 2-dimension scalar data to send the data and applying interpolation processing depending on the relation of a function provided with the Laplacian. CONSTITUTION:An edge detection section 1 uses a brightness and a chromaticity of a picture to detect a border on a picture. An area division segmentation section 2 segments an area on a horizontal scanning line based on information relating to the detected edge. A phi extraction processing section 3 obtains a Laplacian phi corresponding to a scalar data phi in a segmented area. An information compression processing section 4 extracts a function f(i) representing the Laplacian phi and a value phi(i, j) as to a minority value in the area to compress the information. An interpolation processing section 5 obtains a value phi(i, j) at each point on each horizontal scanning line based on the result of compressed information through interpolation to reconstitute the original 2-dimension scalar data. Thus, the data quantity is reduced.</p> |
