<p>A package (1) and packaging method for a flowable sample such as perfume, lipstick, etc. in which the sample is sealed in a flexible envelope (2) of film material and the envelope (2) is in turn supported by a protective enclosure (3) having greater rigidity than the envelope (2). The envelope (2) is engaged around a portion of its perimetral extent to leave the envelope (2) exposed outside the engaged portion and free and unsupported along the remaining portion of its perimetral extend. The envelope (2) has a sealed pocket (10) in which the sample is contained and the pocket (10) is receivable in an opening in the protective enclosure (3). The protective enclosure (3) is thicker than the envelope (2) so that if pressure is applied to the pocket (10) it will enter the opening, and be recessed and confined between the outer surfaces (5, 6) of the protective enclosure (3). The envelope (2) can be removed in intact sealed state from the enclosure (3) by manually engaging the exposed portion and pulling with sufficient force to overcome a detachable connection (14) of the envelope (2) to the enclosure (3). The pocket (10) of the envelope (2) is opened by unpeeling the surrounding seal (11). In an alternative embodiment, the pocket (10) is opened while the envelope (2) remains secured to the enclosure (3).</p> |
