<p>The invention relates to a device for sorting coins, comprising a path (2) of coins arranged to receive coins (1a, 1b) made to roll on their edge and at least one deflection knife (3, 4, 5) positioned at a fixed height with respect to the path (2) of coins for the deflection of coins with a diameter exceeding the distance between the lower edge of the knife and the path (2) of coins from the path (2) of coins. For sorting coins (1b) of different kinds, but with at least approximately the same diameter, the device comprises an identifier (6) arranged to identify the coin (1b) before said at least one deflection knife (4) on the basis of some property of the coin (1b), such as metal alloy, colour, edge toothing and so on, and means (7, 8, 9) for changing the height position of said at least one deflection knife (4) on the basis of the information obtained from the identifier (6).</p> |
