Valve for connecting branch pipe to main pipe - facilitates drilling of hole in wall of main pipe

The branch pipe is connected to a main pipe with the aid of a special valve (1) which seals the main pipe whilst a hole is drilled in its wall and a screw thread is cut to receive the screw thread (12) of the valve (1). The valve is opened or closed by means of a rotatable bush (2) with two diametrically opposite holes (18,19). The bush (2) is rotated by means of a shaft (4) which is mounted with its axis at right angles to the axis (13) of the bush. This shaft (4) has integrally formed teeth (14) which mesh with teeth (15) cut in the end face of the bush (2). USE/ADVANTAGE - Compact valve design.
