PURPOSE:To allow the easy development of both of a PS plate and a waterless plate with one unit of automatic developing machine by developing one kind of the PS plate and the waterless plate with a developing machine having plural developing sections by a specific method. CONSTITUTION:The automatic planographic plate developing machine is provided with the two developing sections 1, 2 and feeds the developing solns. of developing tanks 1a, 2a to shower pipes 8, 9 by pumps 10, 11. Either of the PS plate or the waterless planographic plate is inserted into this developing machine from the intermediate point of the two developing sections 1, 2 and is developed only in the 2nd developing section 2 or is subjected to the discrete processing by taking out the plate just before the 2nd developing section 2 after developing in the 1st developing section 1 or stopping the developing soln. of either of the two developing sections 1, 2.
