PURPOSE:To obtain a high-sensitivity K<+>-selective membrane suitable for K<+> concentration measurement, especially the measurement of K<+> in serum, by incorporating a Schiff base type biscrown ether in a thermoplastic resin film with a spdecific quantity range. CONSTITUTION:0.1-20wt% biscrown ether, represented by the formula (wherein m is 3 or 4 and n is 0 or a positive integer) is incorporated in 100pts.wt. thermoplastic resin, such as polycarbonate, polyvinyl chloride or polystyrene, to form a membranous material. The biscrown ether is easy to synthesize and can be obtained at a relatively low cost. A coating liquid is obtained by dissolving the crown ether in a thermoplastic resin solution to which a suitable quantity of a plasticizer is added if necessary. The membranous material is obtained by coating the coating liquid on a glass plate. Alternatively, a platinum wire is dipped in this liquid, taken out an dried repeatedly to form a membrane of a suitable thickness on the platinum wire. Thus, a high-sensitivity electrode or the like with excellent K<+> selectivity can be obtained. |
